Point of Interest: The Malecon is the mile-long oceanfront boardwalk that runs along the main downtown street. It begins near the first hotel built in Vallarta in the 1940s, the Hotel Rosita, and ends at an open-air theater called "Los Arcos," or The Arches. Along the Malecon visitors can be seen watching the surf from the many benches or taking pictures of the many famous sculptures.
